Chapter 27 Moderator

Lock Settings

Lock settings allow moderators to restrict specific features for all regular participants, helping to maintain order and focus during meetings. Moderators themselves are never affected by lock settings.

Opening Lock Settings

Click the gear icon above the participant list.

Select Restrict viewer rights from the dropdown menu.

A dialog opens where you can toggle individual restrictions on or off.

Available Restrictions

The following features can be locked for regular participants:

Setting Effect when locked
Share webcam Participants cannot enable their camera.
See other webcams Participants cannot see the webcams of other participants.
Share microphone Participants cannot unmute their microphone.
Send public chat messages The public chat is locked for participants.
Send private chat messages Private messaging between participants is disabled.
Edit shared notes Shared notes become read-only for participants.
See other participants Participants cannot see the participant list.
See other cursors Cursors of other participants in the presentation area are hidden.
See other annotations Whiteboard annotations made by other participants are hidden.

Lock settings only affect regular participants and guests. Moderators always retain full access to all features regardless of the lock configuration.

Common Use Cases

  • Large lectures — lock microphones and cameras to create a quiet, distraction-free environment. Participants can use the raise hand feature to request permission to speak.
  • Exam situations — lock the chat to prevent communication between participants.
  • Focused presentations — hide other cursors and annotations to keep the audience focused on the presenter's content.

You can change lock settings at any time during the meeting. For example, you might lock microphones during a presentation and unlock them during a Q&A session.
