Chapter 18 Moderator Presenter

Camera as Content

Presenters can display their camera feed as the primary content in the presentation area — instead of a slide or shared screen. This is useful for demonstrations, personal addresses, or when using a document camera.

Activating Camera as Content

Click the Plus button (bottom left) and select Share camera as content.

Your webcam feed will be displayed prominently in the large presentation area, visible to all participants.

The difference from a regular webcam: Camera as content displays your camera in the large presentation area, while the normal webcam appears in the smaller webcam strip.

Use Cases

Camera as content is particularly useful in the following scenarios:

  • Personal address — display yourself in a large format for an introduction, keynote, or personal message to the audience.
  • Physical demonstrations — show experiments, crafts, or physical objects directly through your camera.
  • Document camera — use a smartphone or external camera to share physical documents, book pages, or handwritten notes with participants.

Combine this feature with a document camera or a smartphone mounted on a stand to share physical documents, whiteboard sketches, or hands-on demonstrations in real time.

Stopping Camera as Content

To stop sharing your camera as content, deactivate the function. The normal presentation view will return, showing your slides or default whiteboard.

This feature may not be available in all BigBlueButton versions. Check with your server administrator if you do not see the option in the Plus menu.
