Notifications

BigBlueButton can play audio alerts and show popup notifications for various events during a meeting. All notification settings are individually configurable and disabled by default. This chapter explains how to enable and manage notifications.

Opening Notification Settings

Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the upper right corner.

Select Settings.

Navigate to the Notifications section.

Configurable Events

You can configure audio and popup notifications separately for each of the following events:

Default Settings

All notifications are disabled by default. You need to manually enable the notifications you want to receive. This ensures that participants are not overwhelmed by alerts they did not request.

Notification settings are not saved between meetings. You will need to re-enable them each time you join a new meeting.

Recommended Settings by Role

Role Recommended Notifications
Moderator Enable audio alert for raised hands so you never miss a participant wanting to speak. Enable popup for new participants if you need to track attendance.
Participant Enable popup for private messages to ensure you do not miss direct communication from the moderator or other participants.

If you find notifications distracting during a presentation, you can disable all of them at any time through the settings without leaving the meeting.
