Platform improvements

We are constantly working on improving our platform.

  • Many small optimizations happen from day to day without notice. We only publish major changes here.
  • Updates to new BigBlueButton versions are not explicitly announced here. Also see our update strategy notes.
  • If we mention so called "premium features" on this page, this usually means that we introduced a new feature for a small amount of customers (which might aswell pay for this). If you are interested in getting a specific feature enabled, please contact our support team.
  • 2024-10-18:
    • Increased maximum possible participants per conference from 100 to max. 300 (for corresponding large subscription packages)
    • The subscriptions of all customers with more than 100 connections were adjusted free of charge and now benefit from the new limit.
  • 2024-10-16:
    • "Login with Google" is now possible.
    • "Login with Microsoft" is now possible. Both functions were designed with privacy in mind: A warning message is displayed before redirecting to the external service. Name and email are read only once by us, with no further data transmission.
  • 2024-10-11:
    • Extended multilingual support of our user interface (New languages: ES, FR, and RU)
    • Custom data protection texts can now be stored in various languages
    • Legal texts: A legal text (also multilingual) can now be stored, requiring each participant to confirm it via checkbox before joining a conference.

    • Audio announcements in conferences are now adapted for multilingual support
    • Welcome texts in conferences are now in the language of the conference organizer
    • Telephone dial-in now supports multilingual options (Languages: DE, EN)

    • New feature: Added long test for connection diagnosis: The network connection of a participant can be continuously checked over an extended period.

  • 2023-09-06:
    • New feature: Waiting page for conferences considers the participant's time zone. The displayed date and time are automatically converted.
    • New feature: Setting to which URL participants are redirected after the conference.
  • 2023-09-01:
    • New feature: Automatic upgrade when usage increases. This feature is available for all subscriptions starting at 500 connections.

    • Improvement: General improvements to the integration API (new parameters added).

    • New feature: Assign names to conference recordings.

    • Participant documentation can now be disabled for the entire account through customer settings.
    • Adjustments to improve accessibility.
  • 2022-04-28:
    • New premium feature: Manage users in user groups, including "group admin" permission, allowing departments in large organizations to self-manage their users.
    • Conference media feature can be disabled in customer settings.
    • Conference recordings and attendance tracking can now be set with a shorter deletion period than 30 days (standard per usage terms).
    • Privacy notice on the conference join page with optional customer text (can be set in branding settings)
    • Text appearing when the conference is full is now customizable.
  • 2022-04-21:
    • Phone dial-in with suppressed number: Callers now get unique names (previously all callers were called "Anonymous").
    • Moderators can rename phone participants by pressing CTRL + Q in the conferences. Real names make them easier to identify than their respective phone numbers.
    • Premium feature: Phone participants can now announce their name before joining the conference.
    • Basic possibility created for custom solutions (premium features) on the platform.
    • New premium feature: Encrypt conference recordings on our platform.
  • 2022-03-21:

    For quick conferences with permanent dial-in links, permanent dial-in data is now also available for phone dial-in, which you can send with the conference invitation.

  • 2022-03-09:

    To improve the security of your bbbserver account, we have introduced multi-factor authentication. This allows you to activate an additional security check besides your password when logging in.     • New feature: Personalized conference invitation links Personalized invitation links with a predefined name can now be created for conferences and quick conferences. If the link is then shared without authorization, it is quickly clear who is responsible.

  • 2021-03-30:
    • New feature: Conference streaming Conferences can now be streamed directly to various streaming providers (German streaming platforms or Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, etc.). A remote control is available, allowing pause images to be displayed or conference functions (show/hide chat, participant list, etc.) to be controlled in the stream image.

    • New feature: Conference media Video files (.mp4 format) or audio files (.mp3 format) can now be uploaded directly to our platform and then played during conferences.

    A comprehensive connectivity test is now available in the help section. Log in to our platform, click "Help & Support," and select "Run Connection Diagnosis." The completed diagnosis can then be downloaded as a text report and sent to our support team.

    Integration API improvements:

    • The correct meeting ID is now appended in the endMeetingCallback.
    • Undocumented parameter "lockSettingsHideUserList" (Create-Call) is now supported.
  • 2020-11-30:
    • Now fully IPv6 compatible - Last weekend, the entire network stack was restructured:
    • All our servers now have their own 10Gbps connection.
    • Full support for all system components (DNS, platform server, BBB server, TURN server, telephone server) for IPv6.

    Complete user management is now possible via API:

    • System API: As a customer admin, users can now be locked and deleted via API.
    • System API: Users can not only be invited by link but also registered directly via the API (including sending a welcome email). Full user synchronization (automatic creation/deletion of users) can now be achieved via API.

    • Conference names now support the full Unicode character set
    • System API: Telephone dial-in data is now available via API
    • Customer admins can now promote other users within the customer account to admin or delete them entirely.

    • Phone access data is now available before the conference starts.

    • Breakout rooms now support telephone dial-in.

    • Moderators can now join conferences 15 instead of 5 minutes before the start time (preparation time).

    Major platform update: The System API goes online. In addition to the existing Integration API, the System API now allows programmatic access to all platform functions.
